Sightseeing
Once, N’Djamena had the reputation of being one of the fun places in Central Africa. But the civil war wrought havoc and buildings now have bullet holes as a grim reminder. However, things are on the mend and the atmosphere is changing. If you want to pick up souvenirs, the colourful daily market is the best place to buy exquisite Chadian rugs and jewellery. The National Museum houses an interesting collection of Sarh culture dating back to 9th century.
The south section of the town is very lively with its bars and pubs in comparison to the very quiet-at-night Arab section.
